Want to know the words to the song?
When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse.
And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
But if you never try you'll never know
Just what you want
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
Tears stream, down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down your face
And I..
Tears stream, down your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Tears stream down your face
And I..
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you.
Hark! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the notes, and they are long!
So, assuming you're watching the video now, let's start with what you're probably noticing. First off, the picture is kinda dark, high-contrasted, and gritty. This is something I did on purpose with the video, to reflect Dr. Cox's mind set and his mood, but if you'll notice at about 4:00, it slowly fades into normal. It's barely perceptible, I think, but I did this to reflect how JD is saving him with that speech.
Next, dialog! Yes, I let them talk over the music. Unfortunately, almost all the parts I wanted had music in there, too, so I had to screw around with the audio to make the dialog audible, but not the music. If you listen carefully when JD is trying to stop Dr. Cox from leaving, you can hear "How to Save a Life" by The Fray playing, because that's what they were playing on the show. I did my best there. Also, I think in the part where JD is telling Dr. Cox how proud he is of him, you can sort of hear the music there, too. I'm sorry. I did my best. I've never done anything like that before, letting them speak and stuff, but I felt like it needed to be done this time, so I did the best I could.
And um...you know what? I honestly don't have that many notes this time. I think it kind of tells the story of itself when you watch it.
So in conclusion, I leave you with this:
I tried to convince myself the reason I didn't come earlier was because of you coming into work drunk. But that's not it. I was scared. I guess after all this time, I still think of you as like, this superhero that'll help me out of any situation I'm in. I needed that. But that's my problem, you know? And I'll deal with that. I guess I came over here to tell you how proud of you I am. Not because you did the best you could for those patients, but because after twenty years of being a doctor, when things go badly, you still take it this hard. And I gotta tell you man, I mean, that's the kind of doctor I want to be.
...and I will try to fix you...
Comments are love. And what the world needs now is love, sweet love. Just sayin'.
Edit: I uploaded it to YouTube for those who can't play .mp4 files.
