So I'd literally just watched Fanboys for the first time, tonight, like thirty minutes ago. I immediately jumped on the internets and began looking up anything I could find on it.
This was the first thing I happened upon and holy sweet goddamn, this made me want to watch the whole movie over again, right the fuck now.
You describe everything so perfectly and I can completely see where you were going/where you came from with everything you mentioned.
I was affected at the end of the movie, but they downplayed Linus' death so much that it almost wasn't sad, but more like... /makes vague hand gestures I'm not sure, really, but I didn't cry like I normally do.
I read this, though, and now I can't stop crying -- I also read the fic rec at the end of this, so that could be part of the sadness. But I don't know, this made me think, made me take an indepth look at the characters and their motivations, etc. It just made the movie ending that much more heartbreaking.
I tend to create happy endings out of sad ones, and I had the perfect ending planned out for this movie... until I read this. Now I don't want a happy ending and that makes it terrible and tragic and I fucking love it.
What I'm really trying to say is, "Thanks for writing this, it's wonderful and lovely and I'm going to show it to all my friends after they watch the movie." <333
