Pretty much as soon as I finished watching Fired Up! (actually, before I finished watching it), I knew I was going to have to write Nick/Downey fic. They're so sweet and Nick is so clearly gay that I really wanted them to end up together--even after Nick rejects Downey, Downey still comes to his rescue against Dr. Rick. Downey deserves to be with the person he cares about and Nick deserves to find someone who will love him exactly as he is--and that person is Downey.

So I started by just deciding to write a "fix-it" scene to fix the ending--the first scene of the fic. But their story still felt so unfinished. How could Nick, with all of his issues, handle being a boyfriend? And so the entire rest of the fic got written.

I want to say thank you to

dancinbutterfly who held my hand through the entire process, literally reading over it paragraph by paragraph over AIM. She helped me find my inner Nick, helped me steer the fic in the right direction, and told me about Nick's parents before I'd even decided who they were. She is the Kirk to my Spock, the Leonard to my Sheldon, the Jelly to my Peanut Butter. Without her, this fic would never have gotten finished, so all hats go off to her.

I also want to say thank you to

crystallekil, who watched the movie just so that she could beta this fic. She is a goddess and I love her and you all should too, because without her, my grammar would make the baby Jesus cry.

Finally, I just want to say thanks to my flist who put up with me talking about this NONSTOP for months and everyone who watched the movie solely because of my squeeing about it and then encouraged me to make the fic work. I love you guys. You're all stars.

P.S. There is a "missing scene" PWP of this fic that's 18K of wall to wall porn. You know that weekend they keep referencing where Downey made Nick where a butt plug all weekend and only took it out to fuck him? Yeah, that fic exists. I just wrote it for

kink_bigbang and have to wait until that deadline to post it. But it does exist and it will be posted, so if that sounds like something you might be interested in, let me know and I'll drop you a comment link when it's up.

So I love Fired Up! passionately. I saw it in theatres ,then I bought the DVD and I've watched it like 5 times, once with commentary. It's sad. So I thought I'd look for some Nick/Downey fic because I agree, they totally belong together. after much searching, I found your fic and none others. What's the deal? Don't ge me wrong, your fic was beautfiul and masterful and I am eternally grateful to you for writing it, but why isn't the rest of the world jumping on this rad awesome bandwagon? How can this be the only slashy Fired Up! fic on the internet? Comment_fic didn't even have anything and they have like *everything*!!

Anyway, thank you for being the only person on the internet to fulfill my desire for Nick/Downey deliciousness! Please right more, ne? ^_^

lol. Well, I technically wrote two N/D fics, although they're one "verse," so maybe that doesn't count. And um...oh, let's see...

gala_apples wrote me comment fic once, but I don't have the link to it anymore.

I really don't know why more people don't ship this/haven't seen this movie. It's pretty damn epic.
